Hi everyone just have a question for you guys if you can help me out.

I am planing on building a small data center either in Waterloo, Ontario or in the surrounding area of Toronto, Ontario.

My questions:

1.) Is Waterloo a good area to build a data center? I know its a technology area but I havent seen much data centers from the area. And are there any bandwidth providers in the area?

2.) Anyone know a good place in the surrounding area of Toronto ontario where fiber lines will be easy to bring in? Mostly looking for something on the edge of the city, planing of purchasing my own land and a place where it will be easy to expand. Right now looking Bolton area or Brampton

3.) What bandwidth providers can be found in these areas? Need someone who can offer bandwidth for cheap like the do in the states so I can offer my customers cheap bandwidth also.

4.) If I open a data center in Waterloo ontario do you guys think there will be a good demand for colocation there?

we bought the domain and hosting from bookdomains ( they are a small company ). Provided Plesk panel. The problem is there is no URL redirection (301). Now the traffic is splitted to http: and http:www domain names. What to do now. We have tried creating .htaccess but still not working. It’s reported that another site who have purchased hosting from them experienced wordpress permalink problem. I don’t understant fully though.

What is actually wrong. Its not apache I think , IIS. But am not that much familiar to these technical issues. Please do help me.

i am a disabled entrepreneur whose business includes providing web design, maintenance and hosting for a few businesses that have had trouble with hosting in other places. the main difficulty i have been having is finding an appropriate place for ebeneezer dot org, which has been the sticking point for several big name host providers like hostgator, EZPZ, and hostrocket. it’s not a porno site, but it does contain "blasphemous" and "adult" oriented content.

i bought a month-to-month reseller account from someone i met on webhostingtalk dot com – michael spears from ismyreseller dot com – but in the past week his servers have been up and down intermittently, i still don’t know how to log into my account, and i haven’t heard anything from him despite emails, support tickets and live chat, so i figured i’d try again.

this is what i need:

no less than 4GB of space. i currently occupy a little less than 1GB, and i’m hoping to be able to expand.

the ability to have no less than 2 mySQL databases, one for an osCommerce site and one for a wordpress site. it would be nice if i had more, but that’s what i need now.

the ability to run perl CGI scripts associated with the above web sites.

i prefer cPanel, but i’m not really that particular. one of the web sites – sedentarysousa dot com – needs a mailing list, which is already set up with "Mailman".

i need no fewer than 5 POP email accounts.

the ability to post "blasphemous" and "adult" oriented content (not illegal) without fear of censorship.

budget of around $100 a year. possiblity of going higher, but i’d like to keep it around that, if possible.

Anyone using cirtexhosting around? One of their server: cherry been down for 20 hours (as I checked it) and still not up yet till now.

I tried to contact the support and they said cherry server went down due to some critical problems. FSCK is currently running on server.
I don’t even know what FSCK means.

I am looking for the right person with a proven track record, i.e. extensive portfolio to do the following designs (and no amateurs please):

I’m wondering if anyone else has experience with this, or if it’s something easy that I’m overlooking.

I am on a VPS service (CentOS Linux) and I want my php mail function emails to send from a specified address. I’ve already manipulated the headers, so the emails do appear to come from the specified addres, but on mobile devices it comes up as nobody{at}server1.mydomain.com format. I would like this to read something like no-reply{at}mydomain.com

Does anyone know which configuration files can change this default address?

right now we host our website in an ISP which is also registers our domain.
the company now is entering a mobile operator business which requires that the website to be moved to our internal network to let the user use our website to access some services.

right now i’m still confused of what to do, what are the steps required to move the host and still alow the people when they type my company domain in the browser to be directed to the new location which is inside my company network , how the DNS NS Public IP issues has to be considered

I’m running an advertising server and I need to upgrade to a new VPS/Dedicated Server as the database needs to repaired approximately once/week.

When running during peak hours the adserver has to handle around 50 visits per minute (and all visits would result in a MySQL row being created). The current database I have is approximately 200MB, and would probably be 1GB when on a new VPS/Dedicated server for a couple days.

I plan on using horizontal partitioning to help increase speed/performance, but how powerful of a VPS/Dedicated server would I need to handle this amount of server load?

I am trying to work my way through setting up and testing WHMCS before my 15 day trial expires. However, I have opened a support ticket (as a client) and logged in as a Full Administrator, but when I go to view support tickets, I get the following message:

I got a new server and i had setup a script on it.

No server tweaks has been done.

I run a filehosting site so it gets very slow when traffic is high.

Early today there was an emergency server move at Booyah, and it apparently went fine. But when Fernis had us change the nameservers to a new IP, everything went down—no sites, no email. The Booyah site is down as well, so can’t submit a ticket, and the phone number is out of service. We’ve got some angry clients calling us, and I’m not sure what more to tell them.

Fernis is usually responsive, and we heard from him mid-day that they are working on it, but no mention of the nameservers as the root of the issue, which our diagnostics show is the case, but I can’t reach him now to let him know as apparently his mail is down, too. If anyone has any info, can you post here? Thanks!

The advantage of this solution is that the callshop application does not require any special hardware as the calls are not sent thru it, instead they go directly to SoftSwitch (thru the internet connection) and the callshop program exchanges with SoftSwitch only little data needed for billing purposes. Also as the clients can be used softphones installed on PCs or FXS gateways with analogue phones connected, not necessarily IP phones.

However, when in WHM, it already contains Server Main Ip: 208.53.183.125. I’ve tried a few solutions from the web, but to no avail:

When providing shared hosting is there really any reason to have 3 plans? at the moment i have 3 plans and people either buy the lowest or highest one most of the time. Is there really any reason for this? wouldn’t it be better to give customers 1 choice for shared hosting and one price. And then have a page with good details on the features included in that plan. The only difference between my plans is basically the space.

Also, lets say i wanted to offer a plan at $5.99 or so, with features like cpanel, unlimited email and database, and RVSiteBuilder. What is the best space and bandwidth people look for, I’ve thought about offering Unlimited like so many of the big companies do, but its not allowed here and i feel like i am scamming people if i did. But what sounds good , 10GB space 1000GB Bandwidth?

i am not able to open it..so i think port is not open so can any one tell me how to open ports…the os installed is centos..

Currently we are running some equipment on a 208v 30amp circuit and using APC step down transformers to take it to 110v.

All the servers running on that circuit are Dell PE1950’s so they are pretty new. There is also a newer dell switch and a Cisco Pix 515E on there.

I am getting rid of the step down transformers and everything that I have read says that all the PSU’s are auto switching and there will be no problem with them running off of straight 208v power without any step down taking place.

Can everyone just confirm for me so I can be 100%. Also any advice on things to look for or problems that might crop up based on your past experience.

Hi everyone.

This is my review of a VPS i bought from the company FSCKVPS.com.

Product: openVZ – 1GB ram guaranteed
Duration: approx. 6mths.

When i first got the VPS, i was quite satisfied with the quality of the VPS, the ressources worked and while the bandwidth speed was less than the the dedicated server i came from, it was sufficient for what i needed. I was even impressed with the selection of different images that i could load onto the VPS with very little work.

Then came the hack…. i’m sure we’ve all heard a lot of what happened and so forth, so i’m not going to go into details about this here.

I decided early on that i would see what happened and most likely stick with them if my data was intact (which it was).

After the hack i frequently had issues with it suddenly becomming inaccessible, FSCKVPS was usually pretty quick in getting it back up and running, stating it was the firewall giving trouble, so they had disabled it and the second time flushed the firewall rules.

Now i’m going to have to admit i don’t know enough to say that I myself wasn’t the cause of this somehow, but i do doubt it since i hadn’t done any major changes to my VPS after that other than regulary updating the Debian linux on it.

Now recently i chose to cancel the VPS primarily because i didn’t need the VPS anymore, i was the only user of the sites it hosted, so i chose to host the site locally on my own LAN instead.

After this, i began to consider why had the VPS been behaving so poorly after the hack, and i remember a mail from VAServe just after the hack saying they would provision all customers with a standard profile and would later fix the actual products. I began to wonder what if they hadn’t done what they promised? (i could not find the actual mail of this, so that’s my interpretation of it, in a ticket rus said that they had reccomended that users check their ressource allocations)

Today another user here, posted a link to a script that could be used to check the ressources, it can be found on this forum in a thread named "Guarantied memory on OpenVZ" (sry can’t link with low post count).

What i found was that i was only getting 256MB RAM guaranteed and 512MB RAM burst.

So my reccomendation to any VAServe user reading this, try this script or check the beancounter file yourself if you know how to understand it’s output, so you make sure you get what you pay for.

To be fair to VAServe, i have always received quick response time for the tickets i opened and up until recently all tickets have been responded in a reasonably competent way(although i’m slightly dissapointed in the support people didn’t check the ressources themselves at the same time).

The things i liked about FSCKVPS:
- Decent prices for their plans
- Quick response time on tickets, and reasonably good reply (from my needs atleast)
- Before the hack: the product quality
- Accountability, rus makes a point in keeping a positive profile on this forum, which is something i atleast think shows that they’re willing to take on critique if there was any.
- The fact that they have a plan to improve their product (KVM and solusVM for openVZ)

What i disliked about FSCKVPS(all related to post-hack issues):
- The fact that they didn’t check the ressources of each VPS themselves, rather trusting users to complaint about it (which is a somewhat difficult thing to do, since the OpenVZ beancounter file is not straighforward to interpret).
- The high variation in the quality of response to your tickets and the fact that when you get a poor answer they tend to only answer one of your questions if you have more than one. (though from what i read in another thread here,this could be because VAServe recently took up new staff, so should hopefully get better. Althoughi would like to stress from my own experience working with tech support, people who take shortcuts in supporting customers tend to keep doing so after they’ve gotten a better knowledge of their jobs)
- Their myriads of websites, for FSCKVPS hosted VPS’ atleast you use two sites, a VAServ.com one for support and a fsckvps.com one for billing, that’s confusing and far from being trust inspiring in my opinion.
- The fsckvps.com website was not updated with the fact that the hyperVM/LXADMIN panel wasn’t accessible after the hack, which one would assume is a natural thing.

My own thoughts about FSCKVPS/VAServ:
They where pretty good before the hack, i’m sure once they get their new support staff trained, their product & websites more streamlined it will get better.

But right now as it stands i can’t reccomend getting a VPS from them, things are too much of a mess.

They mentioned that with the implementation of SolusVM panel(which has the potential to decrease the amount of tickets they get in(reboot VPS etc.) they hope to be able to improve the quality of their replies to their customers through having more time for each answer, i hope this is true and with the implementation of KVM virtualization later on, the future is looking good.

So if i ever happen to need a VPS again, i might give them a try again, but it will definitely not been within the next 6months or so, and atleast a reasonable time after they’ve deployed KVM.

VAServe users don’t forget to check your ressources if you haven’t already!

– WordPress installations need to be updated to the current release of 2.8.5.
– Joomla installations need to be updated to the respective current secure release: 1.0.15 or 1.5.14.
– Any old/outdated/archive installations that you do not intend to maintain need to be deleted from the server.

The (OUTDATED!) domains above have been disabled by renaming the domain directory to end in "_DISABLED_FOR_POSSIBLE_EXPLOIT__CONTACT_DREAMHOST". Please do not reinstate them until you are ready to immediately upgrade them, or until you have already upgraded them.

So, nine of my sites were disabled, for a period of four hours, with NO ADVANCE WARNING from Dreamhost.

I send them a response, pointing out that:

1. I run a tripwire program, integrit, on a daily basis. It showed no evidence that any of these sites had been hacked.

2. My access logs showed no increase in activity on this date.

They wrote, "We have noticed your myacct user causing a large amount of load on the webserver." Well, I certainly would like some details on this, but I haven’t received any.

Uh, no. Wordpress 2.8.4 was released August 12, 2009. Joomla 1.5.12 was released July 1, 2009. The only software that was "years" out of date was on two sites that had been disabled by me six months ago.

I’m over at a friend’s house where he just got Windows 7.
Anyway everything seems to work fine except we can’t get programs into tray. Instead it’s showing them in the task bar as tasks.
Now, I read in some places on the Internet about the little up arrow and a "customize" option but the thing is: the arrow doesn’t exist.
I have sound icon, solve PC issues icon, battery icon and a wireless connection but no arrow icon.

I have been a reseller with Host Department since about Feb. It has been so so but I hoped that it would get better.

Unfortunately, my reseller site and the domains that I host have been down for 6 days now. I only have 2 domains that I host right now so moving should not be a big deal.

The main problem is that I can’t get to my DNS records to move my hosting reseller domain.

One of the sites hosted is on Linux with an osCommerce shopping cart. The other is on Windows.

Can anyone recommend a good host that offers both Linux and Windows servers?

I know that I can’t move my reseller domain until I can get into my DNS and even if I tried a transfer I am not sure that it would work because email is down as well.

Recently, i hosted my domain with two different servers. but both of them were attacked by malwares and viruses. Google also started showing warning like "This site may harm your computer".

Now i can’t open my site on firefox (it gives security warning)… when i open in explorer , my index page is totally changed.

Trying to get Plesk 9.2.3 (free – 1 domain) to talk to SmarterMail 6.5 (free) – it says "Error: Some fields are empty or contain an improper value." after setting it up on port 9998, username "admin" and the correct password.

I can access SmarterMail fine at <a href="http://localhost:9998/” target=”_blank”>http://localhost:9998/ and <a href="http://my-ip-address:9998/” target=”_blank”>http://my-IP-address:9998/. SmarterMail is configured through IIS7, its in it’s own application pool. Since im on 64bit, Mailservice.exe is configured to run as a 32bit service.

I downloaded SmarterMail Free edition, its installed under the Lite edition – according to here (<a href="http://www.smartertools.com/Media/PressReleases/SmarterMail-Windows-Mail-Server-with-Parallels-Plesk-Panel.aspx” target=”_blank”>http://www.smartertools.com/Media/Pr…esk-Panel.aspx) thats what SmarterTools recommends.

im out to find an order form/ecommerce script. not sure what it would be called but i do not need a shopping cart script! i just need something that allows users to place an order. the script should include forms allowing the user to input their contact info such as email,phone number,website address, etc. when they’re done they pay via paypal and receive an order number. is that too complex? i was hoping i could find a small simple script that allows me to do this and not much more. the user wouldn’t be downloading anything after purchase, they’re just placing an order that they’ll later receive from me!

I copy and pasted the exact support ticket that I opened at the WHT helpdesk below.

The provisioned VPS had small problems from the start, of which one was very sneaky. The 9GB bandwidth already used at account opening.

Also pay attention to the 10GB clause, and remember the 9GB already used bandwidth at account opening.

This is going to be long, and I apologise for it.

I need advice on how to proceed with one of the VPS hosting advertisers virtuallydedicated.com.

On the 29th October I openend an account with them and prepaid with PayPal quarterly subscription.

VPS# = 1325
IP = 204.124.182.133

Things did go wrong from the start.
Like 9GB of bandwidth already used just after account provisioning.
This one is really sneaky because they have a restriction on refunds in their TOS that when an account used over 10GB in a given month. Any usage over 10GB will be deducted from the refund.
The FIND command giving warnings, on each execution.
Example :

Their VPS Power Panel is severely broken because eventually it will lock you out if you have to many expired sessions. Instead of logging you out, and showing the login screen, it logs you out and leaves the current screen as is. So when you click on any link or icon, it is registered as a bad login, and eventually you are locked out.

I decided to report these issues, and just continue.

Regarding the 9GB issue they replied this (after having mentioned this several times by email first) :
They : "Yes we notice there are a few issues with the bandwidth on your VPS. We will not charge any overages for you this month so do not let it bother you."
Me : "This month is just another 2 days. "
They : "Your VPS’s recurring month is the day of the month in which you signed up."

On the 29th, the same day the account was provisioned, I was really making progress, and decided to do 2 last things to create the DNS zone files for 2 of my domains, and uninstall Apache2 (I was going to install NginX).
BTW, I uninstalled Apache2 the proper way with :
sudo apt-get remove –purge apache2 apache2-utils

After this, I decided to reboot the VPS and continue the next day because it was already nearing 6:00am where I am. So I logged out the 2 Putty sessions, and logged into to VPS Control Panel, but had second thougths, and decided to do a sudo reboot from Putty.
So I started a new Putty session, and issued the command.
That was the end of things.

But I was still logged into the VPS Control Panel, and tried the Java SSH Client in it.
Same problem locked out.
Then I tried the virtual console to find out what was happening.
While displaying the file cat /etc/ssh/sshd_config, the VPS Power Panel crashed hard.
I din’t do anything, I was just looking at the screen.
And now I was also locked out of the VPS Power Panel.
This was the message displayed :
"[VirtualComplete Brute Force Manager] Too many failed logins from this IP.
Contact your host to get this resolved."

I opened a ticket, and reported both lockouts, Putty and the VPS Control Panel.
Then I went to bed.
I read their reply the next morning 8:30am (local time) :
They: "I have removed the lock for the panel however when logging in to your server I am not sure what exactly was done previously but it seems like you have no network configuration files any more as ifconfig returns nothing and trying to telnet locally outputs a refused connection.

You may have to rebuild to fix your issue."

I replied by explaining what I had done (DNS zone and uninstalling Apache2).
After this I did not hear from them anymore, until I cancelled the account and asked for a refund under their 7 day money back guarantee, at around 12:30pm (local time).
They mention this guarantee at their website, and also in their sales thread in post #2.

They : "As you can see your networking was completely in error. We do not login prior to support tickets so therefore this issue was not caused by us. We told you that the bandwidth error would not be something to worry about, obviously the reason we want you to rebuild is because your networking cannot be accessed with whatever was done to the server.

As you may know this is a self-managed server and we do not manage software inside. As you feel we should do something to correct an error you caused in your software this does not qualify as a valid refund.

We can backup any parts that you wish if you would like us to and let you rebuild to make it accessible. As you know the server was accessible when we delivered it so it could not have been anything we had done. The find errors could also just be related to the OS template but as far as I can see from previous emails it was still working."

I stayed polite and had to repeat my requests 3 times :
Me : "I ask you for the thrd time to cancel the recurring billing.
I ask you for the third time to close my account.
I ask you for the third time to issue a refund as per your Service Level Agreemnt.
I also make it clear that today is the second day since my account with you has started."

They : "We have closed your account with us. I am sorry that you would not give it a chance.

Your refund request has not yet been approved, you will have to wait for an update."

Me : "Look I’m trying to keep this as decent and civilized as I can.
Does closing my account also mean that you have stopped the quarterly recurring billing ?

The account was opened on 29th October 2009. Today, 30th October 2009, I asked for a refund.
Who will be evaluating the request ?
How long will this evaluation process take ?

The reason I cancel has already been mentioned by me :
"To avoid possible repeats and further delays, I’m asking you to cancel my subscription now, and then close my account."
"repeats" as in "a sudo reboot causing a severe lockup again and me having to do a reinstall again".
I had no reason to change anything on the networking side. And I did not make any changes to the network.

I had already logged out my 2 Putty sessions, and was about to restart through the VPS Power Panel.
Then I changed my mind, and opened a new Putty session, and issued the sudo reboot.
Very strange that just before the reboot the network was still working.
I’m not taking any risks.
I cannot risk this with live sites on the server."

After this I was ignored, while I could see him Devon come online at WHT.
After an hour :
Me : "Could you reply before the weekend starts ?"
Them : "Which operating system were you using? Reboot would never cause the network to stop working so it must have been something else. As we just use the operating systems provided by OpenVZ we know the same problem would occur with any host."

Me : "I was using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Server edition 32-bit."

Me : "Which version exactly did you install ?
8.04, 8.04.1, 8.04.2, 8.04.3 ?"

Them : "We installed the 8.04 template available from OpenVZ. I am not sure exactly which one they would have used. I am not 100% familiar with their Ubuntu templates"

Me : "To me it doesn’t make any sense to rebuild.
I know for 100% sure that I did not touch the network interfaces.
I manually created and typed in DNS zone files for 2 of my domains, and then uninstalled Apache2 with sudo apt-get remove (w/ purge parameter to remove the Apache2 components).
Then I closed the 2 open Putty sessions. I went into the VPS Power Panel to restart the VPS, but decided against it, and started a new (single) session of Putty and issued the sudo reboot command.
This means the network was working fine seconds upto the sudo reboot command was issued.

Well I agree with you that a "reboot would never cause the network to stop", but it is the "it must be something else" which worries me.
I say I do not know what happened during the reboot, and that it can’t be any of my changes.
So in fact we both are saying "it must be something else".

But the big issue to me is that I’m the one who has to run multiple websites on this OS image. Rebuilt or fixed.
My choice of OS demonstrates that I prefer stability, reliability, and long term support of security updates before "cutting edge".
So it is never going to happen that I’m going to run one, let alone multiple sites/script on a OS with a time bomb ticking inside.
Simply because the root of the problem has not been determined. Not by me, not by you, not by anyone.
I’m pretty sure that you wouldn’t continue either."

I never heard anythinng anymore, and I suspect it will drag on.
But I’m not prepared to accept this.

He first tells me that the server is self-managed.
Then tells me that my refund request does not qualify as a valid refund and quotes from the 7-day money back guarantee "does not qualify if our management terms were not read."
This is really funny because they have no management terms anywhere.

I checked before purchase, and after all this happened.
In their TOS (at virtuallydedicated.com) they refer to their other website rockmyweb.net to read these management terms. But that site has an under construction page.
And displaying the source of that page reveals no hyperlinks to any Management terms.
And because prior to purchase I was planning, to purchase a self-managed VPS I didn’t bother about the lack of management terms.

And now, when asking for a refund, these non-existent terms are used to refuse a refund.
The "does not qualify if our management terms were not read." is surely always true, because they do not exist, thus no one can read them. So a refund is always going to be denied by them.

I do not trust this company anymore.
Look how they are twisting and turning. It’s not like I have used almost a full month and then ask for a refund.
Also their provisioning was far from stellar, and someone who would not have noticed the 9GB bandwidth usage problem, would have been suckered.
He also admits not being too familar with Ubuntu, so even if it were a manged account he could not have solved this problem.
I have a strong feeling that my VPS was deliberately tampered with to force a rebuild.
The bug with the FIND command is in the vurtualization, and not in the VPS itself.
All I want is my money back, and move on. Without any hard feelings. But this comapny makes that very difficult.
They seem to insist on keeping an unsatisfied customer who lost all trust in them, just to cheat me out of US$40.02 (3 months with their 3FOR2 discount code).
I should have demanded that they clean up their backyard before starting to configure the VPS. But that is all in hindside.

I have taken screenshots of all this and also of the email conversation and zipped it up as an attachement.

I apologise for this lengthy message and the extra work it will cause.

I received another question from virtuallydedicated through their support email address :

You are also offering fully managed VPS’s, shouldn’t you be sure of these things yourself ?

It would be the first time in history that networking was removed/corrupted by removing Apache2 with apt-get or yum.
One of the major advantages of apt-get and yum is that dependencies are stored and checked.
What you are asking about would be ridiculous. (I’m not saying that you are ridiculous.)
It would mean that once Apache2 is installed, it can not be safely removed again.
The network is already present before Apache2, it is not installed by Apache2.
I have one VPS which only serves as a remote storage for 2 other VPS’s, and it hasn’t got Apache2 installed.
I removed it with the same commands, and there were no problems with networking.
I can store and retrieve over the internet to that VPS.
On the other 2 VPS’s with Ubuntu 8.04 which connect to it, there were also no problems with removing Apache2. They use NginX instead of Apache2.
A server without networking is pretty useless. What would its purpose be, if it can’t serve anything ?

Also the file /etc/network/interfaces is autogenerated from the VE configuration files at reboot

I can’t seem to add MS Sql Server in Plesk Pro for Windows.

I’m running Plesk Panel 9.2.1. Prior to installing, I already had MS SQL Server 2005 installed.

Now, when I go to "Home –> Server –> Server Components", I see that SQL Server 2005 has already been installed

But, when I go to "Home –> Server –> Database Servers", I can only see MySQL. When I click on "Add Database Server", in the "New Database Server" page there also isn’t anything other than MySQL.

I am looking for testers to provide feedback on a new hosted CMS I am developing, called Toolbox.

What Toolbox allows you to do is edit existing static html websites, but instead of giving you the HTML code to edit, it loads up your website in the app and allows you to inline edit the website, including text and images.

For the people that freelance/work in the web world, should have a big smile on their face, since I know this issue will be apart of your work too.

The issue is sometimes you will get a client which is very uneasy about editing HTML files or even using normal CMS (since most of they are very complicated to use) and they come to you and ask you to fix a spelling error or update text or image on the website. Although you are happy to help your time get taken up on doing these fixes and not on the work you love to do.

To regain your time and allow your client to have more control over their own websites, you install a CMS which should solved both, but your time is now taken by teaching your clients how to use the CMS and applying updates for the CMS, plus your client contacting you because they lost their password or they need you to reteach them about the CMS, this leave you with less time and the client feeling they have less control over their website.

For a whole time I was freelancing I faced this issue and I am sure you do too. What I am doing with Toolbox is to give you back your time and give your client the feeling that they are in control on their websites.

BUT you don’t need to be freelancing/working in the web world, you can use Toolbox too to edit your own website without having to login via FTP and change the HTML code. Which is what I am doing with my one page website.

Also the reason I asking for testers is not only to find all the bugs (and me with the bug spray), but I like to find the people having the issues above (and future users I hope) and offer input on features I add and other things like the pay system, having it free, paid, ad-supported, etc. In the end I hope instead of guessing what my future users want, I know what they want and already added it.

they have now decided after consulting with their users (lie) on some catagories that sellers HAVE to offer free postage, even though it costs seller to post the items to buyers.
the only winners is eBay in their FVF fees.
i sell items at £10 + £1.95 postage, this cost me a FVF of 95p + 61p to paypal per item sold, now because i have to add the postage to the item cost my FVF has gone up to £1.17 per item sold I can guess that the paypal fee will also increase.
so great scam run by ebay although it is ILLEGAL for them to force any seller to offer free postage, which they cant grasp as eBay are under the impression that they are above any law.

I have this server from webnx.com

Hey guys

Having a bit of trouble when ssh’ing into a server I didn’t set up, ive not been that confident with SSH (yes its powerful, but also unforgiving).

I think the only way im going to be able to CHOWN the folders i need is through the root login.

When I do this however it logs in fine, but then i type LS and it comes back about creating 3 certificate files.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown how how I will navigate to the html folders to change the owners of the folders I need?

There are 2 domains on this single Plesk ran server.

Hello

I have a server with one main IP and 8 additional IPs.

The server is to run one website only. The domain is with 1&1. Is the following right:

Supposing I have IP addresses: 1.1.1.1 – 1.1.1.8, 2.2.2.2

In 1&1:
create two subdomains: ns1.domain.com and ns1.domain.com.
Give NS1 an A record to 1.1.1.1
NS2 an A record to 1.1.1.2
Update the nameservers of domain.com to ns1.domain.com and ns1.domain.com

On the server:
make domain.com have IP of 2.2.2.2
In plesk, it automatically creates a record for mail.domain.com – should I assign this to 1.1.1.3?
Should I then set up a PTR record for 1.1.1.3 to mail.domain.com?
Should a PTR be set up for 2.2.2.2 to domain.com?

Any help would be appriciated. Basically I have 9 IPs in total, want the website on a dedicated, and will need nameservers and the mail server, etc.
