First of all I use Plesk 8.6.5 on a Windows VPS running Windows Server 2003.

I haven’t used parallels plesk for long now, but today I decided to do a backup, midway through I lost my internet connection and when I reconnected and checked the site it showed me a backup file, since I had no indication if the process was completed successfully or not I decided to delete the backup and do another one….and this proved to be fatal.

Plesk didn’t worn me of anything and allowed me to delete the file with a simple "are you sure you want to remove ?" , but when I clicked the backup button again it showed me a screen with a compression in progress message stuck {at} 88.9% and it’s been stuck there for ~ 8 hours now.

My best bet was to end the process somehow, and this seems to be impossible, I’ve tried restarting a couple of times but nothing changed, I’ve done some searching and the only close thing I found was in a thread on this site : (can’t post link but it’s here on the site) , but tbh I don’t understand the how-to part

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I’ve contacted my host for tech support about the subject but still got nothing from them, and I’m more interested in learning how to do it than just getting someone to do it for me.

4. The first sentence in the body text and the first words used per sentence are the most important ones for advanced on-page SEO necessities (Make it humanly readable and SE readable — The words used in the first sentence are most important due to the implementation of Google’s LSI algorithm)
5. The URL — The subdirectory folder and page of content should be SEO’d (i.e. <a href="http://domain.com/real-estate/real-estate-marketing-ideas.com” target=”_blank”>http://domain.com/real-estate/real-e…ting-ideas.com would fetch a high ranking for a page dedicated to real estate marketing ideas – especially with many highly authoritative, relevant, deep in-bound links)

7. If you end up doing an analysis of your on-page content, you can find out if the high ranked sites for your keyword use HTML comments tagged to the keyword(s) being targeted.

I purchased a VPS account (centos-5-x86_64) from Hostgator mainly for the purpose of setting up an online Subversion Server. This is the first time I am managing a VPS and my linux skills are not so great, but I have basic knowledge of the OS and have been using it on and off as desktop from last few years.

So after foxing through a few tutorials online, as the first step I logged in using SSH root account provided by Hostgator and tried to run,

yum install mod_dav_svn subversion

As it turns out my account has Cpanel/WHM and since it some concept of easy apache straight forward procedure of yum install mod_dav_svn subversion won’t work.

After that I found out how it can be worked out by compiling the source and stuff. But the whole procedure looked long and scary. [I am just a linux nub]. so I decided I would just skip whole apache integration stuff and just access the server using svn:// protocol, anyways that’s how I configure svn on our LAN.

So I installed subversion using

yum install subversion

It installed fine.

Then I created a folder /svn_repos/testproject

and ran

svnadmin create /svn_repos/testproject/

No Problems

Using vi I changed svnserve.conf and passwd files for the repository and added a user with my name. Anonymous users don’t have any access, authenticated users have write access.

Then I started svnserve using

svnserve -d

then in same terminal window

svn list svn://localhost/svn_repos/testproject

Asks for authentication for realm, provided root password then for svn username and password. Provided both. The command returns nothing but exists properly. Returns nothing is understood I didn’t import anything.

But if try to access svn remotely using in another terminal:

svn list svn://ip.add.of.server/svn_repos/testproject svn: Can’t connect to host ‘ip.add.of.server’: Operation timed out

Is what I get.

Parallels Power Panel that I got from Hostgator reports that:

The firewall is not active now. To activate the firewall, choose one of the firewall operation modes.

So if firewall is not running and I can access svn using localhost, why the operation is timing out when I try to access svn from a remote machine?

Experienced network admins please help.

I am suddenly having trouble with Microsoft Powerpoint and PDFCamp Printer. I create PPTX files that are 12MB and usually print to PDFCamp Printer to compress the size and create a file that is <1MB. However, starting yesterday when I selected this option to print, the 4.5MB file that I printed as a PDF is now a 7.1MB PDF. For some reason when the file converted from PPT to PDF the file size actually increased! I tried multiple files and this started happening with each of them.

Does anyone have any suggestions to why it happens so?

My cd burner is not burning. It reads and plays CD & DVDs just fine. It use to burn CD’s but now it doesn’t. When i try and burn a CD it goes through the whole process of burning. But when the CD comes out it comes out blank. Don’t know what is wrong with it. I have Windows XP.

Well, I’ve read through quite a few posts and tried most of the suggestions and nothing seems to work. I’m having winXP operating system and a Netgear wireless N 300 router with DSL modem. since last two ,I lost internet connection with my desktop. After checking all connections and the router, I tried connecting wirelessly with my laptop…worked fine. I disconnected the ethernet cable from the desktop and the laptop connected via the cable with no problems. So I figured it was the port. After installing a new ethernet port, it worked…for 12 hours. Then the same problem cropped up again.

I’ve tried repairing the internet connection and get the "cannot renew IP address".

Any thoughts?

I was wondering what peoples opinions were in regards to setting email up as IMAP or POP3 and leaving a copy on the server?

I currently have my emails setup as POP3 (leave a copy on server) and I check them at home, work and on my phone.

Would I benefit if I changed these over to IAMP instead? (PLEASE NOTE: I have never used IMAP before but the server is already setup for it)

Tonight I wanted to purchase something, my password wasn’t taking, I reset it, said it was successful, still locked out, had to go on live chat.

On live chat, I was asked to give the 3 first characters of my password. Then I ask if they can see the password clear text, and he returned yes.

So what’s that about? I’ve never seen that before, usually it was okay your password is locked, and here I find out oh, they can see my password cleartext. How many other companies have their passwords of customers saved in clear text?

" Your account is unlocked now. I apologize, I think I understood you not properly. We are not able to view the passwords. We can validate the passwords by couple of symbols using special option. "

Hmm, now I am confused can someone fill me in?? I’m stumped because it took a good few minutes for a reply after the support agent had my info. So I don’t know how to view this as really did the support agent misinterpret what I asked, or was it a cover up?

My brother just started a business so we got him a domain and signed up for Hostgator. I built a simple HTML website but we’ve decided it would be better to use a template or site building system so he can update it himself easily (he has no web experience).
The problem is that Hostgator’s template system is clunky and hard to use. Their administration interface is also horrible. To get to the cpanel you have to click through several pages after logging in, including things that are not at all intuitive. It actually takes me several tries, randomly clicking links, every time I log in.

Also, does a host have to support Google Apps in order to host email through Gmail?

So is there a host with a good clean interface, and an intuitive site building system, that supports Google Apps if that is necessary?

Hi everyone,

I’m not experienced with anything to do with webhosting, but a website is displaying illegal and very upsetting content featuring myself that I have worked very hard to have removed from the internet, goign thru all sorts of legal procedures. The site is thepiratebay.org, and bayimg.com.

I’ve contacted them with a valid DMCA notice and received no reply. What I’d like to do is go one higher than them, and contact the people responsible for putting their site on the net.

I know a little about whois lookups – and that you can generally find a host thru the IP address or nameserver of any said website. However, the website in question seems to own it’s own nameservers, and I have no joy as a beginner with the IP address trying to find the people ‘above’ those who own the nameservers.

I really think that if the person in charge of these sites were to hear why this is upsetting me so much, for the sake of 5-6 files, they’d remove them. It is getting to them that’s the problem – I’ve contacted various people who it looks like it could be (isc.org, apnic.. others) and they say none of them are responsible for thepiratebay.org or bayimg.com

Can anyone help me to find out who hosts thepiratebay.org/bayimg.com and who to get in touch with

I have two USB ports on the front of my PC. But about 90% of the time, when I go to connect a USB cable, my PC shuts down. And I don’t know what it causing it. It doesn’t happen after the cable is inserted, it happens BEFORE. Like when it’s near the port.

Just to let you know that I have had a Reseller account with them since the Stargate days. I stayed through the change and I still enjoy $6.95 domains with $5.95 transfers.

I have had no problems with PayPal or Credit Card transactions.

I have registered, transferred in and out domains over the years with no problem.

Their Control Panel could be improved but it is functional for what I need. Of course I deal only with client domains for sites I design and I am not a dealer in domains for income.
